Exciting New Dawn For Ceiling Fans
A recognition of shifting lifestyle choices and increased consumer demand for design integrity has led Omega Appliances to re-evaluate its ceiling fan range and introduce impressive new design directions.
Mark Warden, Omega’s Product Development Manager, believes the ceiling fan market has taken on new significance as a result of energy conservation concerns and a general shift back to simple but effective lifestyle choices.
“We are anticipating a huge year in ceiling fans irrespective of the weather conditions. Greater awareness of the need to conserve energy and legislated schemes such as Basix have all contributed to an increased appreciation of the efficiency of the simple ceiling fan as opposed to the energy-hungry air conditioner,” said Mr Warden.
“This, coupled with a discernible shift in consumer demand towards classic technology that has been proven to work well with minimal impact on the planet’s resources, are all key contributors to the heightened interest in ceiling fans.
“And while the ceiling fan has been quietly cooling us down for more than a century, Omega recognised the need to revisit the overall design aspects of the product. This has culminated in the brand new Omega range for the 2009/10 summer season.”
The flagship of Omega’s ceiling fan range, Air Space (introduced last year) will now be joined by the Casablanca Deluxe collection of ceiling fans with re-defined blade profiles, optional radio remote control and low-energy lighting.
Blades have been reshaped, featuring a splayed configuration that moves more air than the conventional shape. And the choice of white or silver 120cm blades is a nod to the move away from the dust-collecting, rustic finishes of the past decades to the more streamlined, minimal approach to design today. Each blade also features a UV polyurethane gloss finish to eliminate fading and yellowing.
And in recognition of our annual migration outdoors during Spring and Summer, Omega has introduced a range of beautiful, tactile exterior fans specifically designed for covered outdoor rooms. For the contemporary take on outdoor entertaining there is the 316 marine grade stainless steel option featuring triple-coated weatherproof clear lacquer for excellent protection from the elements. Those seeking a more tropical look will need look no further than the Bahama range of textural rounded blades in rich mahogany or light pine finishes.
Mark Warden believes retailers will also experience a bumper season in terms of heightened consumer interest in the ceiling fan – an interest that will quickly be converted to sales when shown a high quality Omega fan with its silent operation, low fuel cost and cutting-edge, contemporary design.
Retail price range for the new Omega ceiling fan collection will be from $100 to $200 and each will carry a two-year in-home warranty on parts and labour.
